Saturday 14.8.21 Coloured Pencils- choose dog, cat, horse, cattle, illama, pig or rabbit 

This workshop will focus on drawing an animal with fur of your choice and learning how to layer the pencil colours creating depth and vibrancy to your work. Various techniques will be demonstrated to develop realistic fur and eyeballs and to enhance tonal variations to obtain more realism. You will learn tricks that work and make you smile at their effectiveness.

Numerous images are available for you to choose from which are copyright free.  However, you are welcome to bring your own A4 image. Make sure the image is in focus and you can clearly see the eyes.

It will be easy… pick an animal, draw it (light box available if required) … Watch demonstration and then do it. Lots of fun and individual instruction given to assist in colour blending and layering including each animals’ eyeballs.

Mixing it up #2 Adding Printing

First, we will explore different media and getting interesting reactions to add to your abstract art or backgrounds in your various paintings in watercolour, dyes and inks. Watching the miracles appear before your eyes… then add the extra details and textures with prints of found objects and commercial print stencils plus the ones you make yourself.

Use Foam Blocks, Soft Cut Carving blocks to make your stamps to add to your work adding an interesting layer to make your art pop! The soft cut carving blocks are soft like butter and easy to cut with lino cutting tools. Safety cutting boards and tools supplied.

Oil Pastels the fun way to add brightness to your life.

Come and learn precision and carefree applications of a medium that has been around since Pablo Picasso asked for something that is more portable than tubes of oil paint to enjoy outside!

Come and learn different ways to apply and create interesting surface texture and see just what this stick of oil and wax can do to your work. It is versatile and can be used with a variety of media.

Explore, create and embellish…. AND learn to draw using colour to create the tones that gives your subject its realism. Realistic and abstract backgrounds will be explored.

Mixing it up with ink and watercolour.

  Learn to draw an animal or bird of your choice using brushes, pens and different implements to make interesting marks on your paper. Make decisions about the colours and application that can have both predictable and controlled elements in your work utilizing washes and layering of colours in water colour or ink. 

And OR Embrace random and unpredictable elements that can add another life to your artwork. Plus use a few household products to create a different effect that can be unexpectedly delightful. Artists will explore and experiment and create a variety of artworks ranging from A3 to A5 or smaller! You will foster your intuition and imagination to add realism to your work or express yourself through the use of different lines.

  Throughout the day various mini artworks will be completed using different techniques that can be incorporated in many of your future work. Or you can concentrate on one or two. It will be a day of exploration and consolidation of skills with lots of dashes or splashes of fun.

A little of this and a bit of that…  Collage 

Can you cut? Do you like the funny side of life or need more oddly beautiful moments? Then collage is for you. Random images from different sources are recomposed into an artwork. Collect some of your favourite images (optional) to use and come and have fun creating your own artwork.

This workshop can inspire your sense of humour or celebrate a memory by using photographs or memorabilia.

If you wish to bring your own materials to add to mine … these are the things that are suitable:

Pictures from magazines, coffee table books, picture books, old encyclopedias, wrapping paper, stamps, old photos (not precious) your old paintings on paper to use as background or as part of the collage. All papers like envelops, tracing paper, patterns, tissue papers, cards, plus other objects including materials like laces and ribbons.

The pictures can be composed on a back ground of your making or on an image that you like. You can be as sensible as you wish or not. Just come and enjoy creating little tableau of your making with your imagination leading the way or just a bit astray!

Blooms Sew Beautiful

Mix Media and Embroidery (Optional)

A splash of paint, a line or two here and before your very eyes a flower appears.

The workshop caters for the beginner and more advanced artist. It’s a dabble with paint and lines using pens, masking fluid, watercolours and coloured pencils.

Learn to draw simple flowers to the more complex.

Reference materials are available for the more confident artist and for the beginner step by step instructions are given to draw a variety of blooms and to create compositions. You can use your imagination and create your own floral composition with flowers unique to yourself.

Demonstrations and time for experiments will see you create a variety of small artworks of your favorite flowers or invented ones.

The artworks are enhanced with stitchery and embroidered with a range of simple stitches to highlight your colourful blooms and add details to your compositions.

Faces

​

Come and enjoy discovering your own style of portrait while learning about facial proportions and hints to help you develop your skills in seeing faces. This is a workshop for the beginners and for those who wish to refresh their skills.

Learn to see through a series of exercises to develop your skills in interpreting components of the face and create a variety of artworks using different media. A little bit of drawing, painting and printing to highlight the different facial features and for you to explore what you like.

Choose your own adult person to explore or use one of my images. A full frontal is the best and easiest to start with.

Demonstrations and time for experiments will see you create a variety of small artworks of your person or yourself. Drawing techniques will be explored developing your observational skills to draw more realistically and imaginatively.
